The Caribbean Council Annual Reception 2017

H.E. Brigadier David Arthur Granger, President of Guyana, addresses The Caribbean Council’s Annual Reception,Tuesday 25th April 2017 at the House of Lords

The Caribbean Council’s Annual House of Lords Reception provides a unique opportunity for UK, Caribbean and Central American companies to network with others from the UK and the region who are involved in supporting the region’s economic development and bilateral investment. This time we welcomed more than 200 guests, the majority from Parliament, government and the business community. We are always fortunate to hear from excellent speakers and this year’s Reception was no exception. We had the pleasure of welcoming as our guest of honour the President of Guyana: H.E. Brigadier David Arthur Granger. He spoke about his vision of the country and the investment opportunities on the horizon in the region.

The Rt Hon the Baroness Anelay of St John’s, Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office also spoke about the investment and development opportunities in the region as well as emphasising the United Kingdom’s commitment to a strong relationship with the Caribbean.

Finally one of our gold sponsors, Dr Angus McCoss, Exploration Director at Tullow Oil, spoke about Tullow Oil’s exploration in the Guyana basin. The Caribbean Council’s Annual Reception attracts an influential mix of MPs, Peers, High Commissioners, and Ambassadors, UK Civil Service representatives, NGOs, members of the Caribbean community in the UK and business leaders invested in or working with the Caribbean region.

Our guests enjoyed a wonderful soirée, and had the opportunity of enjoying a drink on the terrace in the warm evening sun with views over the Thames, delicious rum punch made from Guyanese rum, delicious canapes, great company, and exceptional music from one of the most well-known Caribbean steel pan bands in London.

Our marvellous Reception ended with a raffle where guests had the opportunity to win a range of fantastic prizes. One lucky person won the top prize, flights for two to the Caribbean. Other prizes included a bottle of rum and a box of Cuban cigars.

We are extremely grateful to our sponsors:

Without them, the evening’s event would not have been possible.
