Who We Are

The Caribbean Council is a London-based membership organisation working to build beneficial relationships and two way trade and investment between international companies and their Caribbean and Central American partners.

We have been connecting quality businesses in the Caribbean and Central America since 2000.

The Caribbean Council has a full-time staff based in London, complemented by a regional network of on-the-ground consultants and associates working across key areas of industry and government.

The Caribbean Council’s mission is to support responsible, private sector-led investment and development in the Caribbean and Central America.

Core Services:

Membership

Our goal is to be the premier network for responsible international business and investors interested in the Caribbean and Central America.

Members benefit from a programme of fortnightly research publications, round-table events, conferences, webinars, and trade missions, providing companies with the market intelligence, contacts and support they need to develop and maintain positive business relationships throughout the Caribbean, Cuba and Central America.

Participation is open to all levels of business, from large corporations, to smaller SMEs that are looking to develop their business or services in the region.

Our membership currently includes UK, Caribbean and European companies.

Development Consultancy

The Caribbean Council helps development organisations, international donors and CSR/ESG conscious corporations implement programmes designed to promote inclusive and sustainable economic development.

We have worked with a wide range of regional and international organisations including the InterAmerican Development Bank, the European Union, the Caribbean Development Bank, Caribbean Export, and the British Foreign and Commonwealth and Development Office.

Research Publications

Running for over four decades, The Caribbean Council produces three market-leading weekly publications, providing members and subscribers with indispensable analysis of political developments, business news and investment opportunities across the region:
  • Caribbean Insight
  • Central America Briefing
  • Cuba Briefing

We also produce research and reports on a range of themes, and provide expert commentary and analysis on the region to leading news media organisations. David Jessop, Consultant and Non-Executive Director of the Caribbean Council, also writes two fortnightly columns, The View from Europe and The Business of Tourism. Syndicated and widely read in the Caribbean press, the columns provide a European perspective on Caribbean tourism and development issues.

Events

We have a successful track record of organising international conferences, trade delegation programmes, seminars, roundtable events and workshops throughout the Caribbean, Central America, London and Europe.

Throughout the year, we organise a programme of events for our membership bringing them into contact with political, diplomatic and industry leaders from the region; and regularly host events in conjunction with governments, donor agencies and the private sector.

We also offer bespoke event support packages ranging from offering advice on the substance of the agenda, through to recruiting potential speakers and securing the right audience.

The Caribbean Council has a commercial consultancy arm, Colibri Corporate Advisory, which helps clients to understand local markets- their drivers, the competitive landscape, the opportunities as well as the challenges, risks and potential pitfalls.

Colibri provides highly-reliable, granular, competitive intelligence combined with strategic insights and analysis.
