MARKET INTELLIGENCE: WHY DO BUSINESS IN GUYANA (38% GDP GROWTH IN 2023)
Guyana remains the fastest-growing economy in the world and a global destination for international investment and collaboration.
The IMF now expects the South American country’s economy to expand by 33.9% this year —up from its 26.6% projection six months ago. Guyana continues to ride the wave of substantial oil and gas revenues and has seen significant growth in non-oil economies with an estimated increase of 12.6 per cent, up from 11.7 per cent last year. Guyana has an exciting development agenda in which it is harnessing its oil and gas revenue for responsible, sustainable, and inclusive long-term development. This ranges from huge investments in public services, in clean energy and national infrastructure; but also relates to a vision of the country’s long-term economic future as a supplier of food to the region, a trading gateway to Brazil and the rest of the continent, an eco-tourism leader, and a provider of climate services. There is a huge need for international expertise, skills, capital and manpower to make all of the above possible and Guyana across both the public and private sector is looking for partnerships which are to mutual benefit.
This mission is an optimal opportunity to learn more about these needs and to make the connections you need to start being part of Guyana’s transformation.
