We hope you can join us for this in-person event. This event will take place in Central London at the offices of Charles Russell Speechlys. Following the roundtable, there will be an opportunity to network with the High Commissioner.
Bio for Minister Hon. Mr. Edmund Hinkson, S.C., L.L.B., LLM
HC Edmund Hinkson is a Barbadian attorney-at-law, former cabinet minister, and since mid‑February 2026, has arrived in the UK as the new Barbados High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
Edmund Hinkson has practised as an attorney-at-law in Barbados since 1986, working in several Bridgetown chambers before establishing his own practice at Charlton House. He studied at Harrison College and then at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, where he earned his Bachelor of Laws degree, Certificate in Legal Education, and a master’s degree in business law. He was appointed Senior Counsel (S.C.) in Barbados, reflecting his long-standing contribution to the legal profession.
Hinkson entered elective politics with the Barbados Labour Party and was elected Member of Parliament for St James North in the general election of 21 February 2013, retaining his seat at the 24 May 2018 poll. Following the 2018 election he was appointed Minister of Home Affairs, a cabinet position he held until July 2020. He later continued to serve in Parliament and on various national boards and committees, including roles linked to disability advocacy and public administration
The High Commissioner has stated that he intends to focus on advancing Barbados’ political, economic and cultural interests, including climate diplomacy, justice reform, and support for education and development initiatives.
