The session also addressed key challenges such as environmental concerns, bureaucratic delays, and the need to modernize business processes to attract greater foreign investment.
Key Highlights Included:
- An overview of Tobago’s tourism and hospitality sector, including upcoming hotel developments and the new airport
- Insights into the political and governance landscape and the outlook for the upcoming house of assembly election
- Review of the ease of doing business in Tobago, focusing on regulatory challenges, digitalization, and planning approvals
- Exploration of the energy sector, including gas field development, hydrogen and ethanol production, and diversification efforts beyond oil and gas
- Environmental considerations for investors, with emphasis on Tobago’s protected rainforest and the need for EMA clearance prior to project commencement
- Opportunities for investment across eco-tourism, luxury real estate, renewable energy, education, and infrastructure
- An analysis of the country’s cruise industry and the potential for new growth markets
The event concluded with a call to action for UK businesses to invest, explore strategic partnerships, and position themselves in Tobago ahead of the island’s next phase of tourism and infrastructure-led growth.
