Meet the Minister – Suriname

On Thursday 7th April, HE Albert R. Ramdin, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Business and International Cooperation of Suriname told our members “we welcome the private sector through The Caribbean Council to partner with us.”

The Minister shared his country’s Vision 2060 via which Suriname is using revenues from extractives to transform into a KnowledgeEconomy. He also shared opportunities in the energy, mining, agriculture, transport, and tourism sectors.

With 93% forest cover, Suriname is the world’s most forested country. As a result, the Minister affirmed, “we are Carbon Negative and want to remain so.”

Many thanks to HE Amwedhkar Jethu, HonoraryConsul of Suriname to the UK, for facilitating this engaging virtual roundtable!
