Energy is a major challenge for the development of nations.
Today, island territories remain highly dependent on imported fossil fuels, which come at a very high cost. As a result, fuel import bills for islands often exceed their total export revenues. This is why many islands have identified the transition to renewable energy as a key political priority.
The Dominican Republic has seen impressive growth in the energy sector, already generating 1.4 GIGAWATTS of clean energy—an increase of 137% compared to 2020. The goal is ambitious: to achieve a 25% renewable energy matrix by 2025, supported by Law 57-07, which provides tax incentives.
The Dominican Week it’s an excellent opportunity to explore projects in solar and wind energy, as well as battery energy storage systems (BESS), with potential access to financing through UK Export Finance and financial markets.
