The Caribbean Council hosted on Thursday 4th May 2023 a high-level Bahamas Investment Seminar in Central London for a UK business and investor audience.
The Prime Minister of the Bahamas, Hon Philip Davis MP, gave the keynote speech in which he extolled Bahamian can-do entrepreneurialism, spoke of Government’s plans to create a centre for arbitration in the Bahamas, the need for significant investment in infrastructure and creative approaches to financing projects, and efforts to drive increased food production and agricultural activity in the country.
At the meeting chaired by our President Rt Hon Lord Bruce, the Prime Minister was joined by an important delegation from the Bahamas Government, including Foreign Minister Fred Mitchell MP, and senior figures from the Private sector. We were particularly pleased to welcome Khrystle Rutherford-Ferguson, the Chairman of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce, a key partner organisation for the Caribbean Council. It was also highly encouraging to hear at the event, the common approach to foreign direct investment expressed by the leader of the opposition, The Hon Michael Pintard MP.
Panels then followed which discussed the Ease of Doing Business in the Bahamas; and Market Entry for British Companies, both brilliantly moderated by the British High Commissioner to the Bahamas, HE Tom Hartley.
We are very grateful to our speakers; Nicholas A. Rees, OLY, MBA, ACCA, Peter Phipps, Andy Thorne, Anthony Myers, Paul Willis
Our sponsor for the event was Kanoo Pays – a leading Bahamian digital payments and fintech firm giving people and businesses in the Bahamas access to the latest finance app technology, facilitating online payments and bringing down consumer costs.
