Lord Bruce, President of the Caribbean Council said:
“We firmly believe that the UK and the Dominican Republic have a huge potential to develop closer trade and investment ties.”
“Dominican Republic is our second largest trading partner in the Caribbean with a balance of trade in goods currently reaching £600m but this represents just 3% of the US$ 26 billion balance of trade between the DR and the United States. There is huge potential for more; and interest on both sides in seeing this grow.”
“The UK and DR have a free trade agreement which offers largely duty-free market access to each other goods and services, but which is currently very under-utilised.”
“We believe there are huge opportunities for greater integration between our economies – whether in terms of our existing trade in goods and services like Tourism; or in other new and fast evolving sectors such as in BPO Call-Centres; in the creative sector such as the film industry; or in software development and new data centres.”
Chris Bennett, Managing Director, Caribbean Council said:
“We were hugely excited to welcome Minister De Camps as our keynote speaker at our Annual Reception this year and look forward to a busy year ahead of engagement with the Dominican Republic including a UK business mission we will be leading in October 2025.”
“I would like to thank Minister De Camps and the new Dominican Ambassador to the UK, HE Rosa Hernandez de Grullon for their early engagement and this important show of commitment to a renewed UK-Dominican Republic commercial and investment partnership.”
As always, we hope you had a wonderful time at the event, and we look forward to building on the conversations and relationships that were formed.
