Costa Rica’s National Concessions Council released a statement on 22 October announcing that Moin Container Terminal will be operational by 26 October. Managing Director of APM Terminals Costa Rica, Kennet Waugh, told Nacion.com, that once operations begin, port management will be able to properly evaluate the functionality of the port’s systems. The scale of operations of the port is set to expand progressively as it receives an increasing number of vessels. The US$1bn mega port will be equipped with six ship to shore cranes, making Moin the first of its kind in Costa Rica, and will be able to service Post-Panamex vessels with a capacity of over 8,500 containers.
