Summer Marketing and Graphic Design Internship

Reports to:          Business Development Manager

Duration:             6 weeks (20 hours per week) from 12th August

Remuneration:   Weekly stipend of £150.00

The Caribbean Council

The Caribbean Council is a well-established, small, not for profit consultancy and membership organisation which provides a range of research, advocacy and events services to corporate and public sector clients based in the UK, the Caribbean and Central America.  The Council’s work covers a broad range of sectors including tourism, rum and financial services. It provides advice on political and economic developments, trade policy issues and other factors shaping the environment for those that it works with.  The organisation only takes on assignments which are supportive of the development of the Caribbean and Central America.

The role

The Caribbean Council is offering a Summer Marketing and Graphic Design Internship to students or graduates studying graphic design, marketing or similar, to work in its busy friendly and small office with a very international outlook.

The internship will provide students with a fantastic opportunity to have practical experience in a hand-on role and to support in the creative and design elements of the Caribbean Council’s marketing materials (brochures, leaflets, document templates, logos) and overall branding.

The intern will work closely with the Business Development Manager to prepare a new design of the Caribbean Council’s promotional material and branding, both online and offline.

What skills or experience do I need?

  • Student or graduate of graphic design, marketing or similar
  • Strong design & typographic eye, attention to detail
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and InDesign) and able to demonstrate design capabilities across a wide range of work (both offline & online)
  • Microsoft Office Suite, and in particular Powerpoint
  • Awareness of digital culture
  • Creative and organised
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and use your own initiative
  • Collaborative, team player
  • Graphic Design Qualification (preferred) 

Office Working Hours

Normal office hours are from 9.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday.

We will be flexible in the hours required of the intern to facilitate their wider programme of studies.  However, to ensure that our interns gain beneficial, valuable and practical work experience from their time with us, we can only accept interns that are able to work with us for 20 hours per week or more in our central London office.
