On Wednesday 9th November, The Caribbean Council were delighted to organise a round table meeting with a high level Cuban delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture (Minagri).
The delegation included:
- Osmel de La Cruz Cala, Director of Asdrubal Lopez coffee processing plant.
- Carlos Alfaro, ex economic attaché at the Cuban embassy in London. Currently Director in Cuba of The Cuba Mountain Coffee Company Ltd.
- Phillip Oppenheim, Director of The Cuba Mountain Coffee Company Ltd
The meeting provided members with an excellent opportunity to hear about the current projects that Minagri is carrying out and opportunities available for UK companies to work with Grupo Agroforestal.
Grupo Agroforestal (GAF) is the part of Minagri which deals with mountain-farmed products such as coffee, cocoa, forestry and honey.
Asdrubal Lopez coffee processing plant in Guantanamo is the main plant in Cuba and part of GAF.
The Cuba Mountain Coffee Company LTD is an English company the sells and markets single-origin gourmet coffee from the Guantanamo region in Cuba.
