Date: 11 November 2014
Venue: British American Tobacco’s London office
The Central American Business Council’s first ever videoconference roundtable meeting took place on 11 November at British American Tobacco’s London office on the subject of Honduras’ business environment.
The meeting linked directly via videoconferencing with our speakers in Honduras: Mr Jose Rafael Rivera, a partner at the legal firm Consortium Centro America who is also a member of the American Chambers of Commerce in Honduras; Elena Hepburn, the Honduras country manager for the Central American Bank of Economic Integration (CABEI); and Randall Hooker, also from CABEI, all of whom shared valuable and practical information on doing business in Honduras from their experience supporting US companies in the country.
We also had speaking on the London side of the event the Economist Intelligence Unit expert on Honduras, Mr Rodrigo Aguilera, who provided an overview of the political economy in Honduras to date, and the forecast for the near future.
The speakers’ presentations were followed by a question and answer session and interesting investment opportunities were explored, particularly in the areas of mining (gold and iron ore) and energy.
