| The Caribbean Annual Reception, House of Lords, 2nd April 2008 The 2008 Caribbean Council annual reception at the House of Lords on 2 April was a huge success. With over 200 MPs, Peers, officials, diplomats, CBBC, Cuba Initiative and Anglo Dominican Trade Council members and their guests present, the event has truly become an annual fixture in the diary of all connected with the Caribbean in the United Kingdom. Guest speakers were the British Secretary of State for Development, Douglas Alexander MP and Dr Floella Benjamin. The climax of the evening was the free prize draw. Each year guests are given a ticket with their badge on arrival that enables them to participate in the prize draw. The prizes included a variety of Caribbean themed gifts. The top prize was a holiday for two to the Caribbean courtesy of Virgin Atlantic and Sandals Resorts.
